San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick's ongoing protest drew a loud counter-protest among Buffalo Bills fans before the October 16 game at Buffalo's New Era Field.
Despite starting 0-2, the Bills have outscored their opponents this season by a league-high 59 points.
Naturally, reporters asked Kaepernick a lot of questions about social justice, along with questions about the tenor of the locker room and if Kaepernick thinks he'll get another chance to start.
Kaepernick was far from sharp in San Francisco's 45-16 loss to the Bills on Sunday, completing 13 of 29 attempts for 187 yards and a touchdown in his first start since November 1 of last season.
In the second quarter he threw a first touchdown pass in 364 days when he found wide receiver Torrey Smith, connecting with a pass for a 53-yard catch-and-run touchdown. He finished 13-of-29 for 187 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 66 yards on eight carries with no turnovers.
Reaction to Dylan's win, from Billy Bragg to Stephen King
Bob Dylan did not mention his winning the Nobel Prize in literature , during a concert in Las Vegas Thursday night. He was honored for "having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition".
And if Kelly's QB ambivalence yesterday leads to him putting Gabbert back in this week... or going to Ponder... then I'm not sure what the point of yesterday was, other than for the 49ers to continue to thrash and fail and figure out nothing. He said that despite reports that a Bills fan threw a bottle at him, he "had some Bills fans before the game come up and say they support [him]". "But I thought he did a good job protecting the football for us".
The game got attention for being Colin Kaepernick's first start of the 2016 season.
"We didn't finish our drives", Kaepernick said. Me, as a black man that plays football and is considered a celebrity is treated differently than a black man that is working a 9-5 in the hood. "We finish those with touchdowns, the outlook of the game is different". "Colin will be our quarterback against Tampa Bay", Kelly said.
"Those are rare occurrences now", Kaepernick said. "I will continue to do that every week they let me". It is unclear now whether or not Niners' coach Chip Kelly will put Kaepernick in as starter next week during the team's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next Sunday.
