In a major shift from the fast-food model it pioneered, McDonald's announced Thursday it will be offering table service at more than 14,000 restaurants nationwide and installing more digital-order kiosks to reduce wait times.
McDonald's also plans to introduce a mobile order and pay option next year.
Customers at these locations can order at the counter or a kiosk and then sit down and wait for an employee to bring their food to the table, reported The Associated Press. During 2017, a total of 69 restaurants in the market will have completed the changes.
Numerous company's customers, though, do not enter the restaurant.
