Anti-gun Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) questioned Sessions on the topic of gun control, asking, "Will you rigorously enforce statues that prohibit purchase of guns by felons or domestic abusers or drug addicts and use the statues that exist right now on the books to ban those individuals from purchasing guns?"
Additionally, Schumer expressed concern over Sessions' stance on immigration.
"Those who are committed to equal justice in our society wonder whether Senator Sessions' call for law and order will mean today what it meant in Alabama when I was coming up back then". Booker, a Democrat, teamed up with Sessions in 2016, a Republican, to sponsor a bill that would award the Congressional Gold Medal to civil rights pioneers who marched in Alabama from Selma to Montgomery in support of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
As a result of this perceived flip-flop, some of Senator Sessions' supporters didn't take kindly to Booker's testimony.

Opposition to Sessions' nomination isn't just coming from elected officials such as Rep. John Lewis and Sen.
Sessions' Senate confirmation hearings, which ran into Wednesday after an eight-hour marathon session on Tuesday, have been contentious.
