Grinstead, a former beauty queen who taught at Irwin County High, was last seen October 22, 2005. And there was no sign of break-in or signs of struggle.
Ryan Alexander Duke, 33, has been charged with the murder of 30-year-old Tara Grinstead, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said. A website, findtara.com, provided information about her disappearance and investigators' contact information. Authorities did not provide very many details about any prior relationship between Grinstead and Duke, except to say that Duke was a student at the same high school where Grinstead was a teacher. They found her cell phone and vehicle all still there but the 30-year-old teacher was gone.
The release said the GBI's standing policy requires all investigative case files, including unsolved cases, to be reviewed several times each year. Though they have received many tips over the years, none led to credible information. Duke was never previously a suspect in Grinstead's disappearance, said GBI Special Agent in Charge J.T. Richardson.
