The Boston Globe's Dan Shaughnessy asked Goodell during the press conference if he believes the fallout from the DeflateGate saga and subsequent penalties enforced against the Patriots and quarterback Tom Brady has created an uncomfortable situation.
"I have no doubt if I wanted to go to a Patriots game and if I asked Mr. Kraft, he'd have me back", Goodell said. But I continue to respect and admire Robert, Jonathan [Kraft], the entire organization. We went through a lengthy process, we disagree about that. They are an extraordinary organization.
Of course, Goodell will be in Houston for Super Bowl LI, and if the Patriots win, many will be watching the moment when he hands the Lombardi Trophy to Brady.
He was calm, cool and collected as he was asked about everything from Deflategate to the Raiders' home in 2017, addressing several issues throughout the league.
"That's one thing I'm not responsible for around here, the transcripts", Goodell said, per Armour. "We have a job to do. And we came to a conclusion that was supported by the facts and by the courts". I have disagreements with probably all 32 of our teams.
"We're moving on from that", he added, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
Manufacturing suffers as PMI drops to a 16-month low
On the margin side, the rate of input cost inflation accelerated sharply during January to the fastest since October 2012. United Kingdom manufacturers reported a bumper start to 2017, with output growth delivering a 32-month high.
"We're comfortable with the process, the decision, and we're focusing on the game now". I don't think disagreement leads to distrust or hatred.
Goodell was noticeable by his absence from the Patriots' Gillette Stadium during the playoffs, preferring to attend back-to-back Falcons games in Atlanta instead.
Kraft earlier this week said he was uncertain whether his relationship with Goodell would ever be the same following the furore. And I think we do that.
Finally, Goodell said he wasn't responsible for the removal of questions and answers about President Donald Trump on the transcripts that were released following media day Tuesday, per Doug Kyed of NESN. Goodell adds that he does not think a casino could own an National Football League team.
-Goodell said the league was "disappointed to have to leave San Diego". Goodell expects to see "a lot of those changes", which will hopefully improve the quality and pace of play in the NFL.
- Goodell said the league remains "very committed" to Thursday Night football.
