More updates have been revealed for the awaited new "Star Wars" movie mainly starring Han Solo. And while Newton has played heroines like Tom Cruise's partner in Mission Impossible 2, it's her ability to play badass, attractive ladies that get her a lot of attention.
Variety's exclusive says that the actress and the powers-that-be involved with the Han Solo movie are in negotiations.
Some filming has already begun of Disney's planned Star Wars movie based on what Han Solo was up to before the events of A New Hope, but it's still adding to its cast. Aside from Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bride from the British comedy series, "Fleabag" is also in the talks of joining the cast to portray the role of a droid.
The Han Solo film hits theaters May 25, 2018.
GETTYWho will the star play
Newton starred as the robotic host Maeve in Westworld. However, it's not known who the women will play.
As for Newton, she is a great match for Star Wars. Newton was recently nominated for a Golden Globe and two SAG awards for her performance in the show's first season. The latest name on the list is Thandie Newton, the Westworld star who earned heaps of critical acclaim and audience attention past year thanks to her stunning work on the hit HBO Sci-fi series.
If she does join, she'll be among the likes of Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson on the spin-off - with Alden Ehrenreich of course playing the young Han himself.
