News is reporting that the documents leaked by victor were from a classified NSA report published by The Intercept on Monday showing Russian military officials attempted to hack a Florida-based voter registration company shortly before the election.
In the NSA's classified report from May 5, the agency detailed how Russian government hackers tried to phish USA officials and VR Systems, a technology company that creates election software for eight states: California, Florida, Illinois, New York, North Carolina, Indiana, Virginia and West Virginia.
The NSA did not conclude whether the hackers had any effect on the outcome, The Intercept said. The report, dated May 5, 2017, is the most detailed USA government account of Russian interference in the election that has yet come to light.
The Intercept reported the NSA document had been delivered to it anonymously and independently authenticated. Sections of the report have been redacted by USA intelligence, CBS News' Jeff Pegues reports, and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence has declined to comment on it.
Reality Leigh Winner, who held a top-secret clearance and worked at government tech provider Pluribus International, is accused of passing classified information to journalists.
"The actors likely used data obtained from that operation to ... launch a voter registration-themed spear-phishing campaign targeting United States local government organizations". The complaint states an internal audit showed that victor was one of six people who printed the document, but she was the only one who had email contact with the news outlet.Читайте также: Finals pick up where they left off with Cavs-Warriors III
The report shows that, by trying to steal log-in credentials and using spear-fishing emails to plant malware, the hackers "obtained and maintained access to elements of multiple U.S. state or local electoral boards".
The U.S. intelligence community has concluded that Russian Federation conducted a broad influence campaign for the objective of undermining Hillary Clinton's candidacy and sowing doubts about the democratic process if she had won. "Authorities zeroed in on victor because she was the only one who had been in email contact with the news organization, according to the affidavit". The report the contractor allegedly leaked is dated May 5, the same date as the document The Intercept posted online.
Winner's lawyer, Titus Nichols, said he had not yet seen any of the evidence in the case, so he could not discuss the specific accusations. "She is a very good person". A further audit of the six individuals' desk computers revealed that victor had e-mail contact with the News Outlet.
Garrick's affidavit said he interviewed victor at her home Saturday and she "admitted intentionally identifying and printing the classified intelligence reporting at issue" and mailing it to the news outlet.
"I think she's trying to be fearless for me", Billie Winner said.
FBI special agent Justin Garrick told a federal court that victor - a cross-fit fan who graduated high school in 2011 and was in the US Air Force apparently as a linguist - confessed to reading and printing out the document, despite having no clearance to do so.При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
