Prime Minister Narendra Modi today called for coordinated efforts among Shanghai Cooperation Organisation members to fight terrorism and enhance connectivity without impinging upon sovereignty and territorial integrity. "Instead of talking about counter-weights and containment, let us create shared spaces for all", PM Nawaz urged SCO heads of state.
"We [Pakistan] realised that we have a lot to learn from the wisdom of the founding members as we orient our foreign policy in a changing worldwide environment", said Nawaz Sharif.
It is the first between the two leaders after India boycotted the high profile Belt and Road Forum held in Beijing in May in which 29 world leaders took part. "This is the last time we gathered in a six-party format", the Kazakh President stressed adding that the official decision on India and Pakistan's accession to the SCO had been made.
Expressing gratitude to the member countries for supporting Pakistan's permanent membership to the organization, he said it is a historic day for Pakistan to become the full member of the organization.
The Prime Minister welcomed the proposal of the Chinese President Xi Jinping on the need of a long term treaty of good neighborliness for the next five years.
After Indian Prime Minister, it was Pak PM Nawaz Sharif who addressed the SCO Summit.

China and India should also boost trade and investment cooperation and work together for earlier harvest from large-scale cooperation projects in such areas as production capability, industrial parks and railway construction, Xi said.
Modi said SCO would help in bringing peace to war-torn Afghanistan.
"IS cells are now operating in SCO countries, and this has been established during the investigation into the St. Petersburg terrorist attack in Russian Federation", he said.
Modi and Xi are expected to meet at the G20 summit after Astana, which is set to be held next month in Hamburg, Germany followed by BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) summit to be held in Xiamen, China in September.
