NSE had faced a similar technical glitch in May in the F&O segment where numerous traders were unable to exit their intra-day trading positions following an erroneous order cancellation request.
A major technical error hit the National Stock Exchange (NSE), India's premier stock bourse, on Monday which severely affected trade opening. Both the Nasdaq and BATS stock exchanges declared self-help against the NYSE amid the technical problems, which allows trading centers to bypass an automated trading center that is experiencing system problems. The country's largest stock exchange was able to resume trading in the third attempt at about 12:30pm.

In a message posted on its website, the NSE had said the cash market segment shall reopen at 1215 hours and end at 1222-1223 hours. It is clarified that BCP mechanism is normally invoked during any disaster, hardware failure, connectivity related issues. Also, NSE to submit report to SEBI on glitch. Preliminary assessment indicated a software problem. Operations finally resumed at 1230 hours. "We are carrying out an internal review of the technical glitch", he said.
Meanwhile, officials from the Finance Ministry said that the government is aware of the technical glitch at NSE and has, in turn, informed the Securities and Exchange Board of India of the same.
"The technical team of NSE is looking into the issue", the exchange said in a statement. The matter has also been referred to the Standing Committee on Technology to review the problem and approve measures to prevent recurrence of such glitches.
