The Nathan's Hot Dog eating contest is more than 100 years old and takes place on the 4th of July.
Joey "Jaws" Chestnut is the current champion of Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest for nine years in a row.
On July 4 in NY, it's Joey "Jaws" Chestnut against Matt "The Megatoad" Stonie. Curly's asks adults to eat four hot dogs as quickly as possible instead of giving them a fixed amount of time to eat as many as they can.
Incidentally, previous victor Takeru Kobayashi won't be competing today - which isn't much of a surprise - a fact which has some predicting that Chestnut should have no problem beating perennial contender and former champion Matt Stonie.
Thousands came out to watch the 10th annual contest, and the reigning champs showed why they're still tops. Sonya "Black Widow" Thomas finished the competition in third.

In the fury of competition, Sudo's total was shorted by five hot dogs.

In another debate about eating, former six-time Nathan's champion Takeru Kobayashi has offered his take on whether a hot dog is a sandwich.
The women's competition was broken out into its own thing in 2011, and Thomas won the first three before being unseated by Sudo.
