"I think the Johnson Controls thermostat is a ideal example of where Microsoft sees the future of IoT: rather than building their own product, they have created all the building blocks for customers and partners to work together to stitch together industry-specific solutions that solve business challenges in real time", he said. It also comes with a touchscreen display that allows you to check the temperature, air quality, energy usage, and even calendar information. It also looks as if this particular smart device is aimed at businesses and not just at private homeowners. Cortana's voice controls are expected to play a major part in Microsoft's plans for smart home devices, which is apparent with its integration into this smart thermostat.
GLAS runs on the Windows 10 IoT Core and Microsoft cloud computing service Azure. Now heating and cooling account for almost half of energy use in a typical home in the US. "In the commercial building sector, the cost is approximately 40 percent", Microsoft states. "GLAS knows when you're in the room and when you're not".
Will Smith to play Genie in Aladdin remake
John August (Big Fish) wrote the script for the new Aladdin film, which is due for release from Disney sometime in 2019. Disney was only waiting to cast Aladdin , depending on whom, the final call on Jasmine's role would be made.
Technology is not the only thing that the GLAS smart thermostat has going for it, though. With Cortana embedded in the device, users will not have to talk to a smart speaker or a smartphone to change the temperature of their homes, as they will be able to do so directly through GLAS.
The fact that the thermostat has the voice of Cortana on it it's one of the first proofs of what Microsoft said past year. Cortana was first developed for personal computers with the release of Windows 10 in 2015.
There's no word of pricing or availability for GLAS, we've contacted Microsoft to get more details.
