Maraga said the panel of judges had not yet had time to write a "reasoned and well-considered judgement" since hearings closed on Tuesday night, so he only read out the court decision, promising a full ruling later.
Kenya's Supreme Court judges on Wednesday began to write a ruling on the presidential election petition hearing after Tuesday's hearings on whether to uphold President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election or nullify the poll results. "With the possibility of the new election going to a second round and the result being contested again, political uncertainty could easily last the rest of the year", she said in a research note.
Mutiga said the ruling "means Kenya, one of the most open societies in Africa, is gradually maturing as a democracy".
Worldwide election observers, including former Secretary of State John Kerry, had said they saw no interference with the vote.
The court decision came after the murder of a key election official, Chris Msando, just days before the vote.
Judges declare election result invalid.
Commenting on this on Joy FM's Midday News, Mr Lardy Anyenini said Kenya's constitution has progressive provisions which formed the basis for the decision.

Kenya held presidential election on August 8.
Opposition supporters - whose distrust in the voting system appears to have been validated - may see another win for President Kenyatta as proof that the authorities are conspiring against them.
According to reports, the Supreme Court stated that irregularities had marred the integrity of the election which was won by incumbent president of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta. It said the election commission "committed illegalities and irregularities.in the transmission of results, substance of which will be given in the detailed judgment of the court" that will be published within 21 days.
"Presidential election was not conducted in accordance to the Constitution".
In a televised address to the nation, Kenyatta said he disagreed with the court's ruling but would respect it.
Raila Odinga, Mr Kenyatta's opponent, said the commission was "rotten" and demanded resignations and prosecutions.
Now Odinga has another chance, though he still faces an uphill climb - Kenyatta's party swept the legislature and local elections, and the now-voided results put him 1.4 million votes ahead in August's vote. "We are ready. We are ready", he said.
