Russell Westbrook will be staying in Oklahoma City for the foreseeable future.
The extension gives Westbrook the biggest contract in National Basketball Association history, $233 million over six years when combined with his $28.5 million salary this season, according to Wojnarowski.
While the threat of Westbrook following Durant out the door loomed for Oklahoma City, the team was in a stronger negotiating position this time around.

But critics say he wants to remove the last hurdle so that he can carry on in the role, possibly to rule for life. The draft legislation must be published in the government gazette before it is debated in the National Assembly.

Westbrook could find himself stuck in the same situation after this upcoming season.
The Thunder had offered the extension to Westbrook earlier this summer but said at media day that he hadn't signed the extension previously because he had been "too busy" this summer.
By foregoing free agency, Westbrook is letting his All-Star teammates know that he's committed to building a perennial victor in Oklahoma City.
