The company has said it will move away from the traditional car-ownership model.
The Polestar 1's looks match the advanced tech inside-the styling is simple and clean, with unique touches like sci-fi inspired Helvetica-font stickers instead of chrome badging and a panel mounted in the trunk with neatly marked heavy-gauge orange wires and connectors.
The coupe is based on the "Scalable Platform Architecture" (SPA) platform that underpins Volvo's XC60, XC90, S90 and V90 models. It measures in at 4500mm long, some 650mm shorter than the S90. Volvo says about half of SPA is unique to the new auto, including the new Öhlins Continuously Controlled Electronic Suspension (CESi).
The car's all-electric range is an industry-best (-for-hybrids) 150 km (90 miles) and the technology built into the auto incredibly impressive; standard are carbon-fibre body panels, rear-wheel torque vectoring, and Öhlins' all-new Continuously Controlled Electronic Suspension system. Braking is handled by 400mm discs with six-piston callipers manufactured by Akebono. Most body parts are lightweight carbon fibre. Which means rear wheel drive when you're in pure-EV mode, and proper torque vectoring when you're on it.
As an electric auto supported by an internal combustion engine, it has a range of 150km on electric power alone. In this application, the internal combustion unit powers the front axle. It makes its debut with 600 hp and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque, and its 150-mile range beats other hybrids on the market today and far exceeds anything the Volvo brand has done to date with its line of T8 hybrids.
Patna University makes a significant contribution to nation-building says PM Modi
While addressing the event, Nitish Kumar demanded that the Patna University should be given the status of a Central University. In August, Modi along with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had made an aerial survey of the flood-hit districts of Bihar.
On the outside, the Polestar 1 looks like a tricked-out Volvo XC90 saloon, but under the surface, it'll be very different.
In it's previous life, Polestar was a hard-to-find high-performance brand under Volvo Cars.
"Polestar 1 is the first vehicle to carry the Polestar on the bonnet". "A attractive GT with unbelievable technology packed into it - a great start for our new Polestar brand".
"All future cars from Polestar will feature a fully electric drivetrain, delivering on our brand vision of being the new standalone electric performance brand".
Polestar 2 - a mid-size electric sedan aimed directly at the upcoming Tesla Model 3 - will be the first battery-electric vehicle (BEV) from the Volvo Car Group. Meanwhile, timing for the 3 is unclear. The Scandinavian car-maker said production will begin later in 2019, in "consequently higher volumes than Polestar 1".
