Morrissey has come out to defend Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey in a recent interview and people are not very happy about it. Both men have been vilified as scores of sexual assault allegations have continued. Chris Gethard also took to Twitter to say, "I don't understand how so much of what Morrissey sings is so handsome yet so much of what he says is so ugly".
Morrissey partly blamed the issue on the awkwardness of human relations. If I can not tell anyone that I like them, how would they ever know?'
While the charges being made are far, far more serious that this simplification, he did go on and qualify things by adding "Of course, there are extreme cases, rape is disgusting, every physical attack is repulsive". But we have to see it in relative terms. He claimed otherwise everyone on the planet will be guilty of sexual harassment. "Because then we are all trapped". "Weinstein + Spacey unfairly attacked?"
Spacey said he was "beyond horrified" by the claim but said he did not remember the alleged incident.
Franken Accuser Accepts His Apology: 'People Make Mistakes'
In lengthy remarks to the press Thursday, Tweeden said that she felt "violated" by Franken when he allegedly forcibly kissed her. Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell responded quickly to the Franken allegations by demanding for an official investigation.
Spacey said he did not recall the specific event but offered an apology to Rapp for "feelings he describes having carried with him all these years".
Morrissey questioned why Rapp was in that situation in the first place.
"As far as I know, he [Spacey] was in a bedroom with a 14-year-old", the 58-year-old told the site. Speaking with German publication Spiegel Online (in an interview that's printed in German, and has gone through a couple rounds of translation), the former Smiths frontperson inexplicably victim blamed a young boy who says he was sexually assaulted by Spacey, saying that he should have been aware of the dangers of being alone in a room with the actor. I'm wondering where the boy's parents were? He went on to say that his parents would have never left him alone with a stranger and that one should know what to expect when you're in someone's bedroom. I don't know about you, but I've never been in situations like this in my youth.
"I was always aware of what could happen". That's why it doesn't sound very credible to me. "It seems to me Spacey has been unnecessarily attacked", he said. The interview, originally in German, was translated by a user in a fan-page named Morrissey-Solo, which was then reported by a site called AV Club. You ask yourself, if the boy didn't know what could happened. And they play along. "Afterwards they were embarrassed or they didn't enjoy it", he said. And then they turn it around and say, Ive been attacked, Ive been surprised, I was dragged into the room. But if everything went well, and if it had given them a great career, they would not talk about it. I hate sexual assault.
