United States police say they arrested him after the weapons were discovered at the Hyatt Regency in downton Houston in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A drunk man staying at a Houston hotel had an arsenal of weapons including an AR-15 inside his room ahead of a major New Year's Eve bash, cops said. Police were called to the Hyatt Regency after the man had too much to drink and refused to leave the bar. He was arrested for unlawfully carrying a weapon and trespassing.
When police arrived at the scene, the 21-year-old told police that he had a Ruger 9 mm that may have been stolen.
"The safety and security of our guests and colleagues is our top priority, and consistent with the hotel's prepared security plans, heightened measures are in place on New Year's Eve", hotel manager Tom Netting said in a statement reported by the Houston Chronicle. Investigators say he was by himself and they are trying to figure out why he had the weapons. Police said responding officers found a rifle, a shotgun and a handgun in his room, plus ammunition.
