Airbnb co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky talks about a new "Plus" program during an event Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, in San Francisco. Over the last 10 years, Airbnb hosts earned more than $41bn and guests have checked into an Airbnb more than 300 million times. If you've ever anxious about shower water pressure, Airbnb Plus will be checking that, too. In fact, people thought the idea that strangers would stay in each other's homes was insane. "Today, millions of people every night do just that".
Airbnb estimates to support 1.3 million jobs globally in 2017. The new category was announced today, as an option for travelers looking both for a more unique place to stay and more confidence that what they'll turn up to when they arrive will be as promised in the listing.
Meanwhile, Airbnb now organizes rentals into three categories: Shared Space, Private Room, and Entire Home. "It's just been really, really hard to find". It's adding four new property types: vacation home, unique space, B&B and boutique hotels. All 7 property types will launch to guests this summer.
In August of previous year, Chesky tweeted that Airbnb had listings for 15,000 boutique hotels, about 10 months after introducing them to the platform. To meet the needs of such a diverse range of travelers, Airbnb is launching Collections - flawless homes for every occasion.
The company is also launching Airbnb Collections, a way for groups of travelers to rent homes that fit their needs. Airbnb Plus is being marketed as a more standardized style of service that is "verified for quality" and includes a set of amenities one might typically find in a hotel.
Hoteliers and B&Bs have always been listing their rooms on the platform, but the company is adding extra search categories for users who are not looking to rent someone's home or room. This new tier is reserved for homes that have been "inspected and verified in person against a 100+ point checklist covering cleanliness, comfort, and design", Airbnb wrote in a news release.
It will offer people who rent their homes through the tier in-home design consultation and expert photography, but did not say if there was a cost associated with the services or listings.
Patrick Brown says Ontario PCs must be united heading into election
He said his lawyers are in the process of launching a lawsuit against CTV News, which broadcast the allegations. On Sunday, Brown appealed to his grassroots supporters in reiterating the People's Guarantee.

In a bid for the luxury crowd, another new offering is Beyond by Airbnb, which will offer custom-designed trips in what the service touts as "the world's finest homes".
Hosts and guests are the heart of Airbnb.
The company's Superhost program now has 400,000 hosts and is expanding to include 14 new and improved benefits, including better exposure and benefits on smart home products. In comparison, Airbnb users are generally reliant on the accuracy of the original listing and other visitors keeping that honest with their post-stay reviews.
Later this year, Airbnb will also recognize its best guests with a new guest membership program offering benefits across the entire trip.
At a splashy product rollout on Thursday, Airbnb also said it would create a Superguest program that sort of resembles a hotel loyalty program, expected to launch in full by the end of the year.
