Mr Turnbull said he will not attempt to get involved in the gun control debate that is raging across the U.S. since last week's Florida high school shooting, despite Mr Trump consumed by the issue in recent days and Australia used as a shining example of gun law reform.
The Coalition Government is determined to cut the corporate tax rate from 30 to 25 per cent, but Labor is refusing to support the plan in full.
He announced a littoral combat ship would be named the USS Canberra, after the Australian capital, which the USA president pronounced with a heavy emphasis on the second syllable.
Mr Trump, who has suggested arming teachers in response to the Florida shooting, said comparing Australia and America was impractical.
He says the ship will symbolize the enduring friendship between the two countries, adding that "there is no closer friendship".
"We're seeking to expand transparent and competitive global energy markets, cooperating on high-quality infrastructure investment in the United States and in the region - we've spent a lot of time talking about infrastructure, especially urban infrastructure", Turnbull told reporters.
This was Mr Turnbull's first visit to the White House since their now infamous phone call past year when Mr Trump reportedly declared his conversation with the prime minister as his "worst call by far".

Trump and Turnbull appeared largely cordial Friday - even allowing a rare photo opportunity as they walked part the White House Rose Garden.
The leaders shook hands before going inside for meetings, a working lunch and a joint news conference.
Turnbull told a news conference that he and Trump had agreed on new initiatives to deepen security and economic relations.
