There will be two separate Middle East regions in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and Microsoft also plans to introduce a new data center in Switzerland while expanding its presence in Germany and France, according to a company representative. The expansion is the result of customer demand, showing Microsoft is following their money and further pushing to compete with Amazon and Google in the cloud wars. Besides other exciting news, we just announced to open a Swiss region with two data centers in the Cantons Geneva and Zurich.
Access to data in Microsoft's existing Germany regions is controlled by a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom, not by Microsoft itself.
Etisalat Digital, a business unit of Etisalat, is said to be collaborating closely with Microsoft as a Cloud Solutions Provider, offering integrated connectivity with Microsoft ExpressRoute as well as private cloud services using Azure Stack.

"We have seen in the past couple of years that a lot of customers have increasingly put their trust in the Microsoft Cloud services, and once we crossed a certain threshold, we knew that we needed to have a data centre here that could help support their needs".
In France, new datacentres in Paris and Marseille mark Microsoft's commitment to the region, opening the Microsoft Cloud to thousands of customers, partners and ISVs, with the general availability of both Azure and Office 365 providing empowering opportunities for countless organisations. "The introduction of McAfee Cloud Security Platform for Microsoft Azure is an important step to fulfilling this mission for our customers". Our engagement with financial institutions and regulators in Switzerland over the past several years has led to a deeper understanding of the market and the opportunity for locally delivered, trusted enterprise cloud services to meet their unique requirements. Its Azure cloud is now in 42 regions globally.
Office 365 and Dynamics 365 also continue to expand the data residency options for customers with 17 geographies announced.
