But the connection between the two men inserted another high-profile, polarizing Trump ally into the drama surrounding the criminal investigation of the president's longtime lawyer.
The lawyers wrote in a court filing Monday that the raids a week ago to gather evidence from attorney Michael Cohen were "completely unprecedented".
A week after his online war of words with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Kimmel had the opportunity to comment on Monday's surprising courtroom revelation that Hannity was a client of President Donald Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen. She also appeared in court on Monday.
"Hannity's producers are working to contact him", Mr. Smith said.
But Judge Wood made one of the lawyers identify Hannity on Monday. Cohen has acknowledged paying Daniels $130,000 in 2006.
Last week, it was revealed that Cohen had helped Broidy negotiate a $1.6 million settlement with a former Playboy model who got pregnant after they had an affair.
"The person is publicly prominent and Ryan offered instead to put the name in a sealed envelope for the judge, saying the client has said he'll appeal if Judge Wood orders his name disclosed".
She argued that if investigators wanted to see Cohen's work for Trump, they should have issued a subpoena.
"I have faith in the Southern District US Attorney's Office that their integrity is unimpeachable", Wood said.

Michael Cohen's attorneys Monday revealed Hannity as the third unnamed client of Cohen's, a disclosure that came as Cohen's attorneys tried to persuade a federal judge in NY to delay prosecutors from examining material seized in FBI raids of Cohen's home and office last week on the grounds many of them are protected by client-attorney privilege.
Lawyers for President Donald Trump's personal attorney say investigators "took everything" during raids last week on his residence and office. "The president trusted Mr. Cohen as his fixer for years". The President's attorneys proposed reviewing the records themselves to decide what needed to be excluded.
It's not yet clear what services Cohen said he allegedly provided Hannity.
Last week, Cohen's attorneys asked to review the documents, or have a court-appointed special master do so, to determine what material is protected by attorney-client privilege.
But Eddie Scarry, the media reporter for the conservative Washington Examiner, suspected that Trumpworld was more anxious about potential skeletons in Cohen's closet than they were letting on.
During that clip, Hannity attacked the media and declared journalism "dead". "All lawyers are deflated and concerned!" He told a Wall Street Journal reporter that he and Cohen "have been friends for a long time". The prosecution argued, in effect, that Cohen was hardly a lawyer at all.
On Twitter Sunday, Trump decried the breach of his communications with Cohen.
