Will Power finally got the prize that eluded him for so long. She created the "Danica Double" as a farewell tour, running one final time in the Daytona 500 and the Indy 500. It's the 17th title for team owner Roger Penske.
"The Greatest Spectacle in Racing" is a 200-lap, 500-mile competition with a 33-car field. I want to cry! "Thoughts went through my mind during the month". "Now it's not just a hope, it's more of a reality that I've really got a shot at it".
The Indy 500 will start Sunday at 12:19 p.m. ET on ABC. That was harshly illustrated by veterans Helio Castroneves, Tony Kanaan and Sebastien Bourdais, among several whose races were truncated by spins through corners that ended in contact with the SAFER Barrier.
This will be Patrick's final career race as she will retire after this event. "I can't describe it", Power said.
"I tried to avoid everything, but sorry, I couldn't avoid it", Sato said.
Penske arrived in Indy with four fast Chevrolets, and an engine builder determined to snap Honda's two-race Indy 500 winning streak. He was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital complaining of neck pain.
The 36-year-old Patrick crashed out of the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, ending her racing career at the track that made her famous.
But 13 years ago, Patrick was named rookie of the year, had a record-breaking season and led for 19 laps in the Indy 500, as NPR's Cheryl Corley reports. On Instagram, she confessed that the closing of her career was emotional for her.
"I do feel like it was pretty unexpected, but on the other hand the auto was a little bit positive today and was turning a bit more than I wanted to", Patrick said. He posted throughout the day about the race, and he even streamed the whole event from inside his auto.
North, South Korea hold meeting over likely USA summit
Trump now says he remains open to holding a summit and noted "the lines of communication had opened between the two countries". Trump had called off the meeting on Thursday before backtracking a day later, saying the summit could still take place.
"I was definitely nervous", she said. I do feel like it was pretty unexpected.
"I had a great month". Not long after she lost control of her vehicle it slapped the outside wall.
Power led 59 laps but his final pit stop dropped him to fourth, behind three cars that were trying to win on fuel mileage.
Patrick has been a polarizing figure, and that only increased when she moved from IndyCar to NASCAR.
"I'm going to sit up in the "North 40" (the north short chute) and drink beer like the rest of the fans that come out there", TJ said.
Penske was noncommittal about the plea but called Castroneves "one of our best guys". Sebastien Bourdais, three-time victor Helio Castroneves and Tony Kanaan also lost control and wrecked. The restart came with eight laps to go and Power trailing Oriol Servia, Wilson and Harvey.
Overall, her only win in an IndyCar race came in 2008 in Japan.
As Power held off pole victor Ed Carpenter to win his first Indy 500, the 81-year-old Penske pumped his fist in the air and clapped for his driver. IndyCar races are also always available online at IndyCar Radio.
