Because of failing to make weight, Romero will not be eligible to win the title.
The biggest story heading into the UFC 225 middleweight title fight between Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero was whether the latter would be able to make the championship weight of 185 pounds. The bout will go ahead as a nontitle fight.
According to Okamoto, the UFC is now working with Romero and Whittaker's camps to try to keep the main event together. "Absolutely it's on. (Romero) missed by 0.2 (lbs)", White said on the official weigh-in broadcast.
"The last fight with him, 25 minutes I was trying to finish him", Whittaker said.
Romero was the last of the 26 fighters on the card to hit the scales in Chicago, where the UFC 225 event will take place on Sunday.
"I don't think he can change that drastically at his age and in this little amount of time before the fight", he said.
Amazon.com to screen Premier League soccer for first time
Amazon's entry into the market breaks the five-year stranglehold Sky and BT have held on Premier League rights in the UK. It makes complete sense for one of the online streaming services to pick up a Premier League package.
It's the second consecutive bout for which Romero (13-2) has missed weight.
Given that he was competing for the UFC belt, he had to make "championship weight" of 185lbs or under.

The "Soldier of God" initially weighed in at 186 pounds and was given two hours by the Illinois State Athletic Commission to lose one pound.
Earlier in the week, Whittaker was asked whether he would take the fight if Romero missed weight again.
Even as the ceremonial weigh-ins got started late on Friday evening, nobody was quite sure of the status of the fight but, after the final face-off, it was confirmed that both Whittaker and Romero would share the Octagon on Saturday night.
