Three infants - ranging from three days old to one month old - are in critical condition after they were stabbed along with two adults by a worker at a childcare centre Friday (Sep 21) in New York City, police said.
All of the victims in the attack, which happened before 4 a.m., were hospitalized but expected to survive.
The three day and one-month old girl were reportedly stabbed in the stomach while a 20-day-old girl had a laceration to her ear, chin and lip.
The father of one injured child and a woman who works at the Queens day care were among those attacked, according to police.
Police said the suspect was in custody and taken to a local hospital after trying to kill herself.
Police did not have any details on a possible motive.

He reportedly showed up late to the team's training facility Saturday and was suffering from a hamstring injury. Gordon has only made it through an entire 16-game season one time, and that came in his rookie year of 2012.
Two knives were recovered, police said.

The suspect had a slash wound to her left wrist, police said.
Of the children present during Friday's assault, five were girls and four were boys, she said.
