Saudi authorities granted permission to Turkish police on Wednesday to search the well at the residence of Saudi Arabia's consul general in Istanbul as part of the investigations into journalist Jamal Khashoggi's killing, sources have confirmed to TRT World.
"This brutal murder of a journalist, of an innocent man, of a dissident will not go without an American response and, I expect, without an worldwide response", he said at an event hosted by the Washington Post.
"It is a heinous crime that can not be justified".
The French president "informed (King Salman) of his profound indignation at the crime and demanded that all possible light be shone on the circumstances that led to this drama", his office said in a statement.
The event, which debuted past year with global business titans in attendance, has been overshadowed by Khashoggi's slaying and the worldwide outrage over it.
"We are making very clear that the United States does not tolerate this kind of action to silence Mr Khashoggi, a journalist, through violence", US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said. "From now on, we expect them to uncover all those responsible for this matter from top to bottom and make them face the necessary punishments", Mr Erdogan said in a speech in parliament.

Khashoggi, a former royal family insider turned critic of the Saudi crown prince, disappeared after he entered the consulate on October 2 to collect a document for his upcoming marriage.
He continued: "This murder may have been committed on Saudi soil, however this was inside Turkish borders".
Many worldwide business leaders have pulled out of attending the summit over Khashoggi's slaying.
Turkish officials say a 15-man Saudi team killed the writer at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul.
"I want to convey them a message: they will not be able to do so as long as there is a Saudi king called Salman, and crown prince named Mohammed bin Salman in Saudi Arabia and a Turkish president named Erdogan", he said.
The summit is the prince's brainchild, an effort to draw much-needed foreign direct investment into the kingdom to create jobs for its young population.
Trudeau says his government is looking at the contract with Saudi Arabia to see what can be done. The crown prince, already a controversial leader in relation to his crackdowns on dissent and the Saudi role in the war in Yemen, is suspected of orchestrating Khashoggi's killing.
