That seems to be the closest thing to a consensus among the first wave of reviews for "Venom", which represents Sony's effort to build its own superhero universe.
You control the way he swings through NY, where he goes and what tasks he chooses to complete. "So to imagine him being an iconic adversary to Venom in the future is really exciting". It first creaks under their weight then shatters, into a million tiny shards and one confusingly stunted CGI sequence involving a rocket. Venom will hopefully kickstart this movement and provide a foundation for other characters such as Mobius the Living Vampire, Kraven the Hunter and Nightwatch to begin their cinematic run. There are a few moments of incoherence that lead one to wonder what the supposed R-rated cut of this film looked like at one point, but what's here is mindless and frenetic, good enough for government work but not especially showy or inventive. It may not be gritty, but it's still a story about Eddie and Venom deciding they're better off together; a central theme of the comics. That means critics and fans that got to see the movie early can share their opinions of the film now, and the internet seems to be torn between whether Venom is dope, or if it's straight trash. The film careens back and forth between buddy comedy and proto-apocalyptic science fiction in such a ham-handed manner that it feels as though large chunks of connective tissue are missing.
"The scenes that aren't in this movie", Hardy responded.
What we can say here is that, yes, Venom does have a post-credits scene; two of them, in fact.
WH confident after reading Federal Bureau of Investigation report on Kavanaugh
In an interview, No. 2 Senate Democratic leader Dick Durbin of IL said McConnell was "hell-bent on getting this done" this week. The scope of the investigation has become the latest political battle in the larger war over Kavanaugh and the Supreme Court.
The Chicago Tribune also writes - with a certain disdain for the big Marvel and DC film-universe tentpoles - that a real mess of a movie is "so much more thrilling than any of the formulaic superhero movies that parade through multiplexes all year". "The movie "Venom" actually wants to be is the sequel".
There's a lot of potential here though, if they chose to dig deeper and with Venom's penchant for eating people, you'd think they'd go for a higher rating and go gruesome.
Directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Gangster Squad) and written by Scott Rosenberg (Pain & Gain, Jumanji) & Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), the Venom film is set for an October 5, 2018 release date. MRI scans and sonic pain inflicted on Venom cause flashing glimpses of the alien creature superimposed over Tom Hardy's face, complete with special-effects so bad it might as well be a low-budget horror movie. However, Hardy has expressed interest in wanting to see Spider-Man in the Venom universe.
If producers Matt Tolmach and Avi Arad have their way, the release of Venom this Friday will launch an entirely new Marvel film franchise - dubbed "Sony's Universe of Marvel Characters" - that will nearly exclusively feature characters, mostly villains or anti-heroes in nature, who have crossed paths at some point with Spider-Man.
