Cristiano Amon, President of Qualcomm Technologies Inc on stage at the company's annual Snapdragon Summit, taking place on Maui this week.
Lau didn't disclose exactly when its Snapdragon 855-powered phone would debut.
That means the A12 Bionic is roughly 28% faster than the Snapdragon 845. It's unclear if OnePlus would speed up that release schedule so that it can be first with the Snapdragon 855. The platform also delivers the Snapdragon Elite Gaming, bringing next level gaming experiences to premium mobile devices. Improvements to AI performance were also announced, citing up to three times the AI performance compared to the previous generation mobile platform. The new ISP will be four times more efficient than its predecessor.

Apart from 5G connectivity, Qualcomm also announced its "3D Sonic Sensor", a fingerprint scanner for smartphones that will lay underneath the screen completely hidden from sight. Without 5G, the 855 is just another process shrink (rumors peg this as Qualcomm's first 7nm chipset), which is no small achievement (PUN!), but not much of a compelling marketing story. As opposed to the optical solutions we see in shipping phones today, this new ultrasonic sensor should bring more speed and accuracy to under display fingerprint sensors.
5G, Qualcomm is keen to tell us, is coming to cities around the world, particularly in America, UK, Europe, China, Japan, South Korean, in 2019 and 2020.
Stay tuned for tomorrow when we will learn all about the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. Instead, it will come integrated with Qualcomms new X24 LTE modem, capable of theoretical download speeds up of to 2Gbps.
It was back in August when the United States chip maker said Motorola's Moto Z3 smartphone became the first smartphone on the market which would be granted access to Verizon's upcoming mobile 5G network.
Cristiano Amon, president of Qualcomm, told attendees at the summit that 5G will provide the "foundation for virtually every other electronic device to become connected", and despite the reservations of some that 5G is not yet ready for prime time, the USA chip giant prides itself on "making the impossible, inevitable". The company previously relied on Qualcomm for the wireless chips for its devices, but it has worked with Intel over the past couple of years because of a copyright licensing battle with Qualcomm.При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
