Vanderbilt had been suffering from advanced stomach cancer when she died.
Vanderbilt, who died on Monday at age 95, had been famous her entire life, starting with a legal battle in which her aunt took custody from her mother when "Little Gloria" was a child.
He added: "She was a painter, a writer, and designer but also a remarkable mother, wife, and friend".
Vanderbilt built a career as an artist, fashion designer, actress and socialite. She was the center of a famed custody dispute between her mother and aunt, as both wanted control over her $4 million trust fund (about $65 million in today's dollars). In the almost seven-minute-long video, Cooper spoke about his mother's life in the public eye, personal and professional successes, zest for life and the legacy she leaves behind. Her work also graced a collection of scarves before she started the line of jeans and expanded to perfume, shoes, leather goods and accessories.
She then applied herself to acting, appearing in television dramas such as "Playhouse 90" and on Broadway in William Saroyan's "The Time of Your Life". She divorced DiCicco two months later, promptly remarried - this time, to conductor Leopold Stokowski, who was 63 at the time. She was also the author of several books.
He shared a video clip of Vanderbilt in the hospital, sharing an identical "giggle" with her son.
In December 1988, the Gitano Group Inc. bought the Gloria Vanderbilt trademarks from Murjani Worldwide Ltd. for US$15 million. She would look at me, and say, "I love you, too".
United States Star Carli Lloyd Sets Women's World Cup Scoring Record
Carli Lloyd got the scoring started early with a handsome left-footed strike from the top of the penalty area in the 11th minute. Davidson is the youngest player to start for the United States in the World Cup since Tiffany Roberts against Norway in 1995.
The anchor said his mother was filled with love. He recalled hearing her laugh and how they sounded similar. "I always feel that something wonderful is going to happen".
"She has friends like from all walks of life who are really fascinating people, and you know she's just a really compelling", Cooper told ABC News' Dan Harris in 2017. "Even at 92 she believes the next great love is right around the corner, the next great adventure". Her last husband died in 1978 during heart surgery.
"I embrace it all - the pain and the pleasure, the drama and the disappointments", Vanderbilt wrote in summing up her life in the romantic memoir, "It Seemed Important at the Time".
"She would have graduated with the class of '42 - but she left at 17 to get married", said Laurie Flynn, Director of Strategic Communication at Wheeler, in a phone interview with GoLocalProv.com on Monday. "She loved the arts and as do many of our grads".
"I did know that".
My mom grew up in France, not knowing anything about the Vanderbilt family or the money that she would inherit when she turned 21. "But she was ready - she was ready to go". You know how children can be about their parents. Actresses Alyssa Milano called her "an incredible woman" and Dana Delany said she treasures one of Vanderbilt's paintings, while model Carol Alt hailed her as a "fashion icon and innovator". I didn't know what it meant.
