Early in the first half, Chile almost equalized after Lloyd's first goal on a well-designed set piece. Lloyd is playing in her fourth World Cup and now has 10 World Cup goals and moves into third all-time for the USA (Abby Wambach has 14 and Michelle Akers 12).
With the win, the USWNT cliched a spot in the knockout stage.
With her first goal in the 11th minute, Lloyd set a record to become the first player to score in six consecutive Women's World Cup appearances.
Chile lost its opening match of the World Cup to Sweden, 2-0.
Jill Ellis swapped seven different players in her starting lineup on Sunday and made enough substitutions that every single field player has earned playing time through two matches-including 20-year-old Tierna Davidson (two assists) and 31-year-old Jessica McDonald, who both made their Women's World Cup debuts. There's a chance that with Morgan, Rapinoe and Heath the USA could have defeated Chile by six goals, but having those stars even more rested for what the team hopes is a seven-game tournament run should be an advantage.
Sen. Ron Johnson: Trump Using Tariffs 'Brilliantly'

"I think we would have definitely had a couple more in there if she had not come up with those big saves", Lloyd said. "We knew Endler was always going to keep them in the mix". The U.S. defeated Chile 3-0 before a sell-out crowd in Paris. Carli Lloyd got the scoring started early with a handsome left-footed strike from the top of the penalty area in the 11th minute.
The United States set records for goals and margin of victory against Thailand. Davidson is the youngest player to start for the United States in the World Cup since Tiffany Roberts against Norway in 1995. Lloyd is the oldest USA player who turns 37 next month.
The second goal came in the 26th minute as Ertz met a corner from the right with a brilliant near-post header which Chile goalkeeper Christiane Endler got a touch to but could not keep out.
Former Vice-President Joe Biden was among the US team's well-wishers before the sold-out game at Parc des Princes stadium. Biden, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for president in 2020, referenced the team's lawsuit against U.S. Soccer alleging gender discrimination and seeking equitable pay. The U.S. never let up after that.
