On Facebook, Taffy Jo Timm said her daughter, Ashley Rose, bought a bottle of Pantene Pro-V Sheer Volume conditioner at a Richmond, Wisconsin, Walmart last week and it contained the hair removal product Nair.
The store handed all its surveillance footage to police, and they're weeding through it to see if anyone tampered with the bottle.
The next night, her uncle helped her shave her head completely.
Rose lives by herself and purchased the $12 conditioner on Tuesday, July 23.
It is unclear whether Rose was aware of the color the Pantene conditioner product should have had when she used the bottle for the first time. "But can't say for sure", she wrote. But, her hair was found to be too brittle and delicate to be able to hold them in properly.
But the damage had already been done. Within minutes, Krone's hair began falling out in clumps, he friend writes on the site.
This inspired the family to create a GoFundMe page for Ashley to fix the damage left on her scalp after using the conditioner.
"We were at the doctor's office and they said it smelled like Nair".
Ashley Rose Robinson, from the USA state of Wisconsin, was traumatised and left in tears after clumps of her hair started falling out in the shower on Sunday night.
Nair is a popular hair-removal product.
It has a strong odour, as harsh chemicals are required to essentially diffuse the bonds between the hair follicles and the scalp they're attached to.
Police respond to deadly shooting at Mississippi Walmart
The Walmart is "still an active scene", Moore said, and a suspicious package was also found inside the store. One witness, Phil Cox, told the Commercial Appeal that he thought the suspect "was going after employees".
"Check your bottles where ever you get them, nothing can be trusted anymore", Rose said.
The tampered conditioner left Ashley partially bald.
"She has come to the heartbreaking realisation that her only option at this point is to shave her head".
"Hair is such a part of our personal identity and having to lose all of it without expectation or choice is an incredibly traumatic experience", the friend said.
"I am stressed to the max ..."
"My hair just started falling out in clumps on the floor, and it just kept coming out and coming out and coming out and I screamed", Robinson said.
'The police are gonna be watching camera footage along with the detectives, ' the warning post ended. She just has to get used to all of this.
"I saw her yesterday and this girl is lovely!" she said.
Robinson added more Facebook posts in the following days, eventually sharing that she made a decision to shave her head rather than deal with the continued hair loss.
So far Ashley's GoFundMe has raised $1,515 (£1,250) and hundred have sent her messages of support.
